Rilo Kiley is Ronnie Pinsky from Nickelodeon’s Salute Your Shorts and Haley from the Wizard.  I’m sure they are sick of hearing this, but Rilo Kiley is childhood stardom deconstructed a bit (since the band is cool) and definitely revisited.   Salute Your Shorts was one of my favorite kid shows growing up, and incase anyone wanted to relive their Camp Annawanna dreams, the t-shirt is for sale at bustedtees.com

Right place at the right time, picked up by connor oberst saddle creak records, I remember hearing “It’s a Hit” back when Bush was trying to get re-elected and thinking this band is genious!  Then they hit it off with the Postal Service when they were hot as lava and Jenny hit it off with the Watson Twins a bit later. right place right time, and ditto with tonight on conana.

so I can’t say I was crazy about tonight’s performance though.  the band was there in all star gear.  guitarist pierre is wearing his glittering suspenders, jenny in pretty red dress, also glittery, with white tights.  blake is in decemberists shirt/tie/vest and drummer jason is very relaxed LA.  I apologize, there are two girls on stage as well - me wonders if they are the watson twins???no.  but one of the girls is playing keyboards, singing, playing guitar, playing tambourine with her left foot, playing foot organ with her right foot and squeezing wah wah pedal with her elbows.  pretty cool.   I was surprised that Jenny didn’t sing much, cause truth be told she adds much wind to this band (she’s released a solo project on the side).

i am disliking the recent tim horton’s commercials btw.
