conan: marc broussard

song performed
: “Love and Happiness” from the album S.O.S.: Save Our Soul
conan’s reaction: “that was great. thanks for doing it *shakes marc hand* thanks for coming back *shoulder touch* always fantastic. marc broussard everybody. that was alright *points at guitar* like this guitar *to marc* just leave it when you go. that’s our show everybody i do want to thank all our guests. john leguizamo, our thanks to him for stopping by. james blake, very cool of him, stay tuned for last call with carson daly, we’ll see you tomorrow bye everybody b-bye *shakes marc hand, then guitar, then drum, then bass, then keys, leans in to talk to marc*”

tonight we’re talking about marc, and as I put tips to keys mr. broussard is house of bluesin it down at my 2nd hometown of san diego. go marc! mr. broussard, son of mr. broussard the guitarist from new orleans (i think his nickname was big bacon in creole), comes to the stage off a wild surge to fame as one of non-depressing stories of hurricane katrina.

now he’s back with more philanthropy - an album of covers including tonight’s hit by al green. i can’t diss marc’s stage presence cause when i put together the body shape, the posture, the dress, the guitar, even the haircut - it’s pretty much a version of me - even his facial hair is about where mine maxes out. gone are the days of imagining myself as an iggy or perry ferrell on stage. but watch out marc - you’ll soon find yourself down the path of chunk-ko if you don’t start thinking about your shoulders. ?wtf?

the song is great - backup singing was a bit weak, but instruments were spot on, and only one part toward the end when marc got a frog in his cajuny throat. it was actually more of a feathery thing like a robin. still - a nice performance by a mature kid (he’s only 25 and covering al green with grown-ups - you do the math).
