this post

is simply to cheer up my girlfriend. this is how our cat behaves during tv breaks.

new hat!

I look quite silly, but this is so worth a post.  my 97!!! year old grandma crocheted me a new tuk, or as they say where i’m from, a new beanie!  say what you will, but it fits my head, it’s actually quite intricate (i learned a little how to crochet from my neighbors in college).

AND it’s made by my fantastic grandma of 97 years!!!!  I love it.

first day of spring 2: an inconvenient truth

it’s happening already. recycling bins in the neighborhood are in bouts of spring fever.

first day of spring 1: finally!

*deep breath*
oh, the signs of spring are showing. i wrote a short poem in celebration

new buds in the sky
jeans come tighter in the leg
new spring style egads

spring also means bugs

bugs - like everywhere!!!! check out these roley poleys on our fence.

book on poop!

same day I received the cutting board gift, I also received this from h & upside-down-elephant in the mail - just what I need! i’ve already read through it twice and have learned such interesting things. For instance, lions doody stinks a bunch and scares away prey, so they bury their dung when they’re done - a characteristic I see in moch everyday.

so far this book has helped serve as a bedtime story and also served as a temporary cup cover from my cat moch, who in addition from burying her doody in cat litter also likes to take the same paws and stick them in my water.

i snipped her nails this morning.

new cutting board!

my good pal e sent me this in the mail the other day for my birthday.  how cool!  a really nice bamboo cutting board, and as the close-up shows it’s got my logo and birthday memory laser engraved.  i get a kick out of personalized gifts like this so it was great.  a bonus was that the knife set that slides up inside includes a much needed bread/serrated edge knife for my breads and tomatoes.

first use: sweet onion for veggie chili
latest use: cabbage for a quick cabbage chop salad

TTLLC: on a counter

this one didn’t startle me as much, stumbled across this one on the counter

it was a bit more obvious.  since 2 of 3 of these have been ramen soup packets that I don’t use, I’m beginning to think they should sell ramen w/out soup packets for like 2.4 cents less per package.

QOTD: What is, or used to be, your SSB (secret single behavior)?

three things off the top of my head:

taking the butter out of the fridge to let it get gooey-like

putting used dryer sheets in all of my clothes

airdrumming/airguitar to old radiohead cds

G.O.A.T.

Muhammad Ali turned 65 this year and along with making senior cids discounts on everything now, he’s jumped in the food channel with his own snack mix called G.O.A.T. (which stands for greatest of all time, not the caprine kind).  i haven’t tried these G.O.R.P.-like snacks yet, but they look super fun.  check it  they’re even snacks shaped like medicine balls and a whole variety of punching bags.  I want I want.

punchline “just hope they don’t taste like sweaty socks” *chuckle*
alt punchline “just hope the salty flavor isn’t from gym sweat” *chuckle*
alt punchline 2 “just hope george foreman doesn’t start a line of cured meats and seafood” *smile*
alt punchline 3 “just hope casual male doesn’t hear about this” *not funny*

btw - G.O.R.P. stands for granola, oats, raisins, and peanuts.  stick with me kid you’ll be alright.
