Oh man, I know that PATD was like one of the hottest bands of 2006 (who came out of nowhere btw), but I guess I don’t listen to enough FM radio to know much more about these lads from Las Vegas. And I know they get street cred for touring with the likes of Bloc Party, but with a song title name of “Lying Is the Most Fun a Girl Can Have Without Taking Her Clothes Off”, I’m already sticking my index finger down my throat.
I find this emo pop to be, in general, crap, because it neither makes me want to jump around the room like a fool nor does it help console me on deep dark days - it’s a fake friend, and unfortunately PATD is the leader of this school.
The audio in the beginning was strange and remained so a bit, like the vocals were mainly being picked up by the monitor speakers. Lead singer man looks like Freddie Prinze circa She’s All That. There was a eerie lighting on the drum kit, which makes me think that the drummer dude is important, or his dad is the bank. Alternative vocals by guitar man were, uh, pretty bad (very flat and weak) and I think it was because his clothes didn’t fit right, cause the lead singer man with his properly tailored pants could belt out the high notes alright.
I was totally confused about the cellist in the back left corner. why? also, why the grand piano? toe tall lee unnecessary.
These boys are young and should be very close to the lyrics they are singing about (high school - didn’t they just graduate?), but it seems like they are going through the motions.
