my first impression was - “wowwiewowow, look where their capo’s are!”, and I’ll admit that in the beginning Pete’s capo is so high on his fretboard that it’s almost inappropriate. pete’s got this smoothy voice that makes you want to have a sudden realization-during-voiceover on grey’s anatomy, maybe even scrubs, and definitely on dawson’s crik or felicity. i know that back in ‘03, my then roommate and I accidently participated in a war of songwriters - I started listening to this pete yorn guy, and my roommate ryan adams. little did i know that the two would constantly be compared to each other, pete a much more sensitive looking and acting gent.  so i guess it’s fitting that pete showed up on my conan (btw i think that ryan has since blown a mental casket - go check out his website and tell me it’s not whacked). i think the comparison wars are over…

…however i think it was song choice, but I couldn’t help but hear a crappier counting crows.  pete couldn’t pull off his smoothy voice as well due to volume levels, the chords lined up too close to “a long december” for my comfort zone, and without shorty dixie natalie maines singing back-up vocals, it was hard not to compare.  grand piano was grand man but added to the comparison.  back-up vocals were nice though.

I’ve been watching Lost Season two for the past like six months on DVD, and so it was funny to see the guitar man in the back look just like charlie.

the set was a bit melancholic for me, remaining only blue and purple hues the whole time.  but at any time of the performance, i could close my eyes and be right there on the set of grey’s anatomy.
