MGOC: Bayside

conan’s reaction to the set: “*right hand shakes guitar 2 hand on way in* Thanks very much. *right hand quick shakes lead’s hand* Hey, really nice song. *reaches with right, quick shakes bass hand* Thank you. *right hand shakes drummer’s hand* I like your squirrels.  Bayside everybody. *turns to look at lead singer taking out his earplugs*  Nicely done, we’ll take a break, we’ll be right back. stick around. *claps thrice*“.

“Duality”  The lights were primary red yellow and blue and I felt the performance came off that way too.  the singing was kind of off, maybe like the band had a cold?   some of the guitar playing and rhythm was off a bit too for a song I could tell would sound energetic and rad on player. Singing about being alive, I hate to admit I had feelings at the end that this was a Christian Rock band *sorry*. ouch.  I don’t know Bayside, but I didn’t get anything special from this band - especially since they are from NYC.

BTW< their album sells for $9.99 at Target.  Their myspace friends are replaced mainly their band clothing, also on sale.

I give them cred for being plugged in tech-wise, and maybe it’s my “bayside-means-near-oakland” upbringing, but I can say my first dissapointing performance I’ve blogged about in ‘07.
